Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Suspect Samuel Perez after Striking Pedestrian in Wasco Causing Major Injuries

 
WASCO, CA (July 19, 2021) – Police arrested Samuel Perez after a pedestrian hit-and-run Sunday afternoon, July 11 in Wasco.
 
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 700 block of E Street. According to sheriff’s officials, the 66-year-old suspect hit a 78-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the street. He then fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
The unidentified victim suffered major injuries, but is now in stable condition.
 
Police later found Perez in the 1900 block of D Street and arrested him for hit-and-run causing injury, reckless driving, resisting or delaying arrest, drug possession and driving without a license. They booked him into the Central Receiving Facility.
 
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. They asked anyone with further information to call them at 661-861-3110 or Secret Witness at 661-322-4040.
