Motorcyclist Sammy Hartzog Killed in Redding Accident

 
REDDING, CA (May 3, 2021) – The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a motorcycle crash on April 22 as 59-year-old Sammy Ray Hartzog of Millville.
 
According to Redding police, Hartzog was driving a motorcycle southbound on Railroad Avenue. A 2016 Toyota Avalon was preparing to leave the parking lot of Owen’s Pharmacy.
 
RPD says the Hartzog approached the intersection of Eugenia Ave. and lost control before being ejected and crashing into the Toyota.
 
The crash is currently under investigation, according to police. They said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be involved. RPD said everyone was wearing appropriate safety equipment during the crash.
