Salome Godinez Dies in Fairfield Hit-and-Run Accident, Marcos Guzman Arrested
FAIRFIELD, CA (March 21, 2021) – Authorities identified the man who died in an hit-and-run accident last week in Fairfield.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened just before 9:50 a.m., March 13, on Abernathy Road at Andrews Lane.
A preliminary investigation revealed that 60-year-old Salome Godinez was driving a green 1985 Honda ATV when a passing vehicle struck him. The second vehicle, described as a gold Lexus ES300, did not stop after the crash.
Godinez suffered major injuries from the impact and died at the scene.
Authorities later located and identified the suspect driver as 47-year-old Marcos Manuel Guzman of Napa. They arrested him on suspicion of DUI, felony hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license. They booked him into Napa County Jail.
An investigation into this fatal accident is ongoing.
