Salem Shihady Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Lancaster

 
LANCASTER, CA (July 26, 2021) – Authorities identified 58-year-old Salem Shihady as the victim killed in a hit-and-run accident at Date Avenue and Avenue J, Saturday evening.
 
According to the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station, the incident happened on July 17, at about 9:35 p.m. The victim attempted to cross Avenue J when an eastbound vehicle hit him near Date Avenue.
 
Emergency crews pronounced Shihady dead at the scene.
 
As per reports, investigators later recovered the suspect vehicle after receiving a tip. However, the driver of the vehicle was not in custody as of Sunday morning.
 
Deputies continue to investigate the cause of the fatal hit-and-run. Authorities ask witnesses to call traffic investigators at the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station at (661) 948-8466.
