63-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in West Carson
WEST CARSON, CA (December 28, 2021) – Ryoichi Kobayashi died in a hit-and-run crash in West Carson on Sunday evening.
The fatal crash happened around 8:05 p.m. on December 26, along the eastbound side of Torrance Boulevard east of Conradi Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was walking from the north edge of Torrance Boulevard to cross to the south edge.
At the same time, a 36-year-old Torrance woman was driving a 2019 Toyota eastbound on Torrance Boulevard. She had just passed the intersection with Conradi Avenue at 35 mph.
The Toyota struck Kobayashi as he crossed the street. The driver then fled the scene without rendering aid.
As a result, Kobayashi suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 63-year-old Torrance resident.
At this time, the hit-and-run suspect remains at large. CHP officers are still investigating the incident.
