Police Arrested Russell Garcia for DUI and Hit-and-Run after Crash Involving 3 Vehicles in Merced

 
MERCED, CA (December 21, 2021) – Police arrested Russell Garcia after a DUI hit-and-run crash involving multiple vehicles in Merced, Friday evening.
 
The crash happened on December 17, on G Street near 25th Street. According to the Merced Police Department, officers responded to the site and determined that the crash involved three vehicles. One of the drivers fled the scene.
 
At least one person had minor injuries from the crash.
 
Detectives found the suspect’s front license plate at the scene, and followed a huge oil trail from the damaged car. That led them to Garcia’s home, where they found his damaged vehicle.
 
Police conducted a field sobriety test on 51-year-old suspect, and detected signs of intoxication. They arrested and booked him at Merced County Jail on several felony charges, including DUI and hit and run.
 
Further investigation is underway.
