70-Year-Old Run Yu Dies in Multi-Vehicle Accident on East Eight Street in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (May 5, 2021) – Run Yan Yu was killed in a multi-vehicle accident Tuesday morning in Oakland.
 
The accident happened around 8:23 a.m. on May 4, in the 500 block of East Eight Street at Fifth Avenue. According to the Oakland Fire Department, the 70-year-old San Leandro man was driving a black four-door 2009 Nissan Altima. At least one vehicle struck his Altima for unknown reasons. The impact of the initial crash involved another car.
 
First responders found Yu pinned inside his car. Firefighters helped in removing him from the vehicle. Despite emergency life-saving measures, Yu died at the scene.
 
Police did not release further details, including information about two other vehicles involved or their drivers. An investigation is underway.
