18-Year-Old Ruben Gutierrez Killed in Borrego Springs Motorcycle Crash

 
BORREGO SPRINGS, CA (October 25, 2022) – Authorities identified 18-year-old Ruben Gutierrez of Mexico as the motorcyclist killed in an accident on Shell Reef Expressway, Saturday afternoon.
 
According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner, the incident happened on October 22, at about 3:31 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, an eastbound helmeted motorcyclist collided with a westbound pickup truck in an off-road area near Ocotillo Wells Airport.
 
Emergency crews pronounced Gutierrez dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck remained and cooperated with investigators. As per reports, the driver did not sustain injuries in the collision.
 
San Diego police continue to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
