Robert Meyer Dies after Crash with DUI Hit-and-Run Driver in Upland, Jorge Romero Arrested

 
UPLAND, CA (December 14, 2021) – Robert Elmer Meyer was killed in a DUI hit-and-run crash in Upland on Sunday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 4:53 p.m. on December 12, at the intersection of North 13th Avenue and East 9th Street. According to the Upland Police Department, Meyer was riding his motorcycle when 58-year-old Jorge Romero of Upland pulled out into the eastbound lane. Meyer tried to avoid Romero’s car before sliding into it.
 
The impact of the crash caused Meyer significant injuries. Paramedics rushed him to San Antonio Regional Hospital, where he later died. He was a 42-year-old Fontana resident.
 
Meanwhile, Romero fled the scene. Police located him shortly after and took him into custody on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, felony hit-and-run and felony DUI.
 
An investigation into this fatal crash is underway.
