Robert Etta Killed, Juvenile Detained in Fiery Stolen Truck Crash on Carnegie Road near Colter Way

 
MAGALIA, CA (December 13, 2024) Robert Etta died in a fiery stolen truck accident on Carnegie Road near Colter Way.
 
According to reports, the fatal single-car crash happened around 2:00 a.m. Monday. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a 911 call from 50-year-old Etta, of Magalia. He informed dispatchers that a person tried stealing his truck. To stop the theft, Etta tried to jump into the back of the truck. However, the thief, described as a juvenile, crashed, which caused the car to catch fire and spread to nearby vegetation.
 
Moments later, the California Highway Patrol and deputies responded to the scene, but Etta passed away despite receiving life-saving efforts. The CAL FIRE Butte Unit was able to extinguish the fire while deputies took the juvenile into Butte County Juvenile Hall for manslaughter.
