DUI Crash on Geer Road near Santa Fe Avenue Seriously Injures Rigoberto Salas-Torres, Anibel Lopez Arrested

 
STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (May 19, 2021)Anibel Lopez was arrested after a DUI crash on Geer Road in Stanislaus County late Saturday evening.
 
The accident happened around 11:50 p.m. on May 15, south of Santa Fe Avenue, between Hughson and Turlock. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 31-year-old Turlock man was driving a Honda sedan southbound on Geer when he veered into the opposite lane. He then struck a northbound GMC SUV head-on, driven 49-year-old Rigoberto Salas-Torres.
 
As a result, Salas-Torres suffered major injuries. Paramedics took him to Doctors Medical Center for treatment of a broken femur and lacerations to his face.
 
Meanwhile, Lopez was found unresponsive inside his car. Emergency crews also transported him to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of abdominal lacerations, a fractured pelvis and a broken ankle. Officers arrested him but released him to the custody of the hospital.
 
Lopez faces felony DUI charges, according the CHP. An investigation is underway.
