Rider Dies in Sonoma County Motorcycle Accident on Occidental Road

 
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (May 24, 2021) — A rider died in a motorcycle crash on Occidental Road near High School Road Friday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 8:21 a.m. Upon arrival, officers determined that an eastbound Yamaha R6 crossed over the double yellow lines to pass up a slower vehicle.
 
However, the motorcycle collided head-on with an SUV, and a second SUV became involved somehow.
 
As a result of the accident, the motorcyclist died at the scene. However, the victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
 
If anyone has more information on this crash, please contact the CHP. In the meantime, authorities plan to look more into the factors that possibly played a role.
