Rick Barretta Hurt, Jorge Mendoza-Suarez Uninjured in Deadly Crash on Highway 101 near Rohnert Park Expressway

 
ROHNERT PARK, CA (August 9, 2021) — Rick Barretta was injured in a fatal accident on Highway 101 near Rohnert Park Expressway Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly multi-vehicle crash happened around 4:00 a.m. For unknown reasons, a Nissan vehicle was stopped in the middle highway lane. Subsequently, its driver, whose name has not been released, exited the vehicle.
 
Soon after, an oncoming Ford F-250, driven by 41-year-old Barretta rear-ended the Nissan. Due to the force, the Nissan rocked forward and struck the man, throwing him onto the road. There, a Ford F-150, driven by 26-year-old Jorge Mendoza-Suarez, struck the Nissan driver.
 
Shortly after, paramedics responded to the scene and declared the Nissan driver dead on arrival. Meanwhile, a team of paramedics transported Barretta and three passengers in his Ford to Santa Rosa Memorial hospital with minor injuries.
