Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle Last Month on Parkmoor Avenue near Meridian Avenue

 
SAN JOSE, CA (March 14, 2021) – Richard Velasquez died last week after suffering from injuries in a February 24 pedestrian accident in San Jose.
 
Velasquez, a 36-year-old San Jose resident, was walking westbound across Meridian Avenue near Parkmoor Avenue just after 4:00 p.m. He was crossing against a red “do not walk” signal when a 2011 Jeep Cherokee struck him at the intersection.
 
Velasquez suffered major injuries from the impact and died at the hospital on March 4, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office said.
 
The adult male driver of the Jeep was not injured.
 
An investigation into this fatal accident is ongoing. Authorities asked witnesses to contact Detective Bowen at 408-277-4654.
