Motorcyclist Dies after Colliding with Sedan on 210 Freeway at Base Line Road

 
CLAREMONT, CA (October 18, 2021)Richard Merced was killed in a motorcycle accident in on Foothill (210) Freeway in Claremont Friday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:18 p.m. on October 15 at the Base Line Road off-ramp near the San Bernardino County line. According to the CHP, Merced was riding his motorcycle eastbound when he collided with a Lexus sedan.
 
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics immediately responded and pronounced Merced dead at the scene.
 
Merced was a 28-year-old Upland resident, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner. He died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck.
 
Paramedics treated a second person at the scene with unspecified injuries.
 
Crews closed three eastbound freeway lanes for at least two hours while they cleared the wreckage.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
