Police Arrests Convicted Felon Richard McQuade for DUI Related Charges in Ridgecrest Motorcycle Crash

 
RIDGECREST, CA (May 24, 2021) – Police arrested Richard McQuade for DUI after a motorcycle accident in Ridgecrest Friday night on May 14.
 
The accident happened around 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Helena Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, McQuade was driving a motorcycle with a passenger when they crashed.
 
As a result, the passenger sustained serious injuries. Paramedics took the patient to Ridgecrest Regional Hospital for treatment.
 
Meanwhile, police determined that McQuade was driving under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident. In his possession, officers found what they suspected as methamphetamine and controlled substance paraphernalia. In addition, the found McQuade to be in possession of a loaded “Ghost Gun” which is prohibited, given his status as a convicted felon.
 
Police later arrested McQuade and booked him at the Central Receiving Facility (CRF) in Bakersfield for seven charges including DUI causing great bodily injury and possession of controlled substance paraphernalia.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
