Motorcyclist Richard Lewis Dies after Crash with Car on Highway 168 in Prather

 
PRATHER, CA (July 21, 2022)Richard Lewis was killed in a motorcycle accident in Prather on Wednesday morning, July 20.
 
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on Highway 168 just west of Little Sandy Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 43-year-old victim from Auberry was driving his 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on the highway. A 2006 Toyota 4-Runner and a 2003 Chevrolet Express pulling a trailer were traveling east.
 
The Toyota driver, a 43-year-old Auberry woman, prepared to turn left across the other lane.
 
For unknown reasons, the motorcycle rear-ended the Toyota, throwing Lewis onto the roadway.
 
The Chevrolet, driven by a 67-year-old Clovis man, then struck Lewis.
 
As a result, Lewis suffered fatal injuries and died a the scene. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
 
The two drivers were unharmed.
 
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
