Richard Heard Jr. Killed in Hit-and-Run on West Tennyson Road [Hayward, CA]

Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver at West Tennyson Road and Dickens Avenue

 
HAYWARD, CA (June 26, 2021) – Richard Leon Heard Jr. died in a hit-and-run crash in Hayward Wednesday evening, June 16.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:15 p.m. near the intersection of West Tennyson Road and Dickens Avenue, just across the street from a Jack-In-The-Box and a Shell gas station. According to the Hayward Police Department, the 55-year-old Oakland man was riding his bicycle when a vehicle struck him.
 
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the crash, leaving Heard with severe injuries.
 
Medical personnel arrived soon after and rushed Heard to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. Sadly, the victim died while undergoing treatment.
 
Hayward police are looking for a dark-colored full-size pickup truck based on descriptions from witnesses.
 
Heard’s family created a GoFundMe page to help accrue money to offer as a reward for anyone with information that can help identify the suspect driver.
