Rebekah Gall Dies, Retired Police Sergeant Theodore Young Detained in Jamestown DUI Head-On Crash
JAMESTOWN, CA (January 25, 2022) — Officials announced that 27-year-old Rebekah Gall of Modesto has died from injuries sustained in a DUI head-on accident on Highway 49 on Tuesday, January 18.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash occurred around 5:15 p.m. near Chicken Ranch Road. Retired East Bay police sergeant 63-year-old Theodore Young of Sonora allowed his Toyota to veer from the northbound lane to the southbound lane.
As a result, Young’s pickup collided head-on with a southbound Acura sedan, driven by Gall.
Gall was rushed to treatment. However, she died days later in a hospital.
Officers arrested Young on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Young — a retired police sergeant with the Pleasanton Police Department — faces charges of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated causing brain injury. In addition, driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent or higher causing brain injury with a prior driving under the influence conviction, according to a news release.
