Coroner Identifies Raymond Ayala Killed in Chain-Reaction Crash in Murrieta

 
MURRIETA, CA (August 15, 2021) – Raymond Ayala died in a chain-reaction accident on Winchester Road near French Valley Thursday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 2:20 p.m. on August 12, just south of Briggs Road near Benton Street. According to the Murrieta Police Department, the 48-year-old victim from Hemet was driving a Chevrolet Camaro southbound on Winchester Road following a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
 
For unknown reasons, the driver of a northbound Nissan Altima abruptly veered into oncoming traffic and collided into the Tacoma. Ayala’s Camaro and a Kia Sorrento then hit the Tacoma and the Nissan.
 
Murrieta Fire & Rescue personnel responded within a few minutes and pronounced Ayala dead at the scene.
 
The unidentified Nissan driver suffered major injuries. Paramedics took him to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
 
Meanwhile, the other two drivers sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Police asked anyone with information to contact Murrieta police Investigator Kurt Stickelman at 951-461-6306.
