Coroner Identifies Driver Killed in Fresno Crash on Highway 99 near Highway 180
FRESNO, CA (October 27, 2021) – Rathanak Heng was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 99 in Fresno early Sunday morning.
The accident happened just before 4:00 a.m. on October 24, along the westbound Highway 180 near the connector to southbound Highway 99. According to the CHP, Heng was driving a Jaguar southbound on the freeway when he veered off onto the shoulder of the roadway. His car then overturned.
Heng was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car during the crash. While lying in the roadway, two passing vehicles struck him. He died at the scene. He was 30 years old, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol may have contributed to the crash. Toxicology results are pending and the CHP said the investigation is ongoing.
