Rafael Marchan Killed in Rear-End Accident on 15 Freeway [Lake Elsinore, CA]

29-Year-Old Wildomar Man Dies after Slamming into Big Rig in Lake Elsinore

 
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (February 2, 2022) – Rafael Marchan died in a rear-end accident on 15 Freeway in Lake Elsinore on Friday evening.
 
The accident happened around 9:15 p.m. on January 28 just south of Franklin Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, Marchan was driving a 2006 Honda Accord southbound when he drove into the right shoulder for unknown reasons. He then slammed into the back of a big rig that was stopped on the shoulder of the freeway.
 
The car was crushed underneath the trailer. Marchan was trapped in the driver’s seat.
 
Marchan suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 29-year-old Wildomar resident.
 
Meanwhile, the truck driver was not injured.
 
According to investigators, the truck driver had pulled over to inspect a noise coming from the rear of his trailer.
 
At this time, this fatality remains under investigation.
