North California Police Officer Tyler Lenehan Dies after Struck by Wrong-Way Driver in Elk Grove
ELK GROVE, CA (January 24, 2022) – Police Officer Tyler Lenehan was killed in a wrong-way accident on Highway 99 in Elk Grove on Friday morning.
The accident happened around 5:15 a.m. on January 21, just north of 12th Avenue. According to the Elk Grove Police Department, Lenehan was riding his motorcycle to work when a wrong-way vehicle struck him.
As a result, Lenehan suffered severe injuries. Responding paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he later died.
Lenehan was a six-year veteran of the Elk Grove Police Department.
Meanwhile, the wrong-way driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
It is unclear at this time whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
