Tire Blowout Leads to Accident on Highway 78

 
SAN MARCOS, CA (February 3, 2021) – A tire blowout accident on Highway 78 hurt an Escondido police officer on January 23.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just east of Twin Oaks Valley Road.
 
Based on a report, a 40-year-old Vista woman was traveling in a 2015 Chevrolet 2500 pickup prior to the crash. For an unknown reason, the left rear wheel of her vehicle detached and went over to the eastbound lanes. There, it struck the victim’s Ford Explorer Police Interceptor. Subsequently, it struck a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling behind the police vehicle.
 
As a result, the police officer suffered minor injuries. It was not yet known if the driver of the Silverado was hurt in the incident.
 
At this time, the tire blowout accident on Highway 78 is still under investigation.
