SDPD Office Suffer Injuries when Hit-and-Run Driver Strikes Him near Westview Parkway During Traffic Stop

 
MIRA MESA, CA (July 13, 2021) – A San Diego Police motorcycle officer sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash near Westview Parkway Thursday morning, July 8.
 
Just before 10:10 a.m., the officer pulled over a black Chrysler sedan near the intersection of Westview Parkway and Black Mountain Road. The driver backed up and struck him before taking off northbound on Black Mountain Road.
 
As the officer gave chase, the driver pulled to a stop in a traffic lane, then accelerated in reverse, crashing into the motorcycle.
 
Following the impact, the motorist continued backing up, pushing the downed motorcycle along the street with the officer pinned underneath it. The driver, who had a female passenger riding with him, then fled the scene.
 
Paramedics responded and took the officer to a hospital. After his treatment, he was later released.
 
Homicide detectives took charge of the case because the hit-and-run crash was being investigated as an attempted murder. They asked anyone with information to call them at 619-531-2293.
