Speeding Driver Causes Traffic Accident on Fanucchi Way Involving Shafter Police Officer

 
SHAFTER, CA (February 10, 2022) – A police officer sustained injuries in a high-speed accident on Fanucchi Way and Zachary Avenue in Shafter on Tuesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 6:15 a.m. on February 8 near the Target Distribution Center. According to the Shafter Police Department, the officer was attempting to overtake a speeding vehicle traveling southbound on Zachary Avenue. For unknown reasons, the vehicle turned left in front of the officer and crashed.
 
Responding paramedics transported the officer to Kern Medical for a complaint of pain.
 
The other driver was also taken to Kern Medical for precaution.
 
The patrol vehicle had its lights on, but it is unclear whether the sirens were on at the time of the crash.
 
At this time, an investigation into this accident is ongoing.
