Peng Wang Dies, Bianglang Li Involved in Off-Road Crash near Osborne Overlook Dunes and Highway 78

 
IMPERIAL VALLEY, CA (April 20, 2022) — Peng Wang died in an off-road accident near the Osborne Overlook dunes and Highway 78 on Friday.
 
According to authorities, the incident happened around 1:00 p.m. when 29-year-old Wang and a group of other young filmmakers were taking pictures on a large dune. Under unclear circumstances, a 2022 CanAm Maverick UTV, driven by 25-year-old Bianglang Li, was scaling a dune when the UTV overturned and ejected one student, later identified as Wang.
 
In the investigation, authorities learned that everyone except Wang — a third-year graduate student from China, attending Chapman University — had their safety harness on.
 
Unfortunately, Wang, who also went by the name of Aaron by his peers, suffered fatal injuries during the incident.
 
At this time, authorities have not indicated the ultimate cause of the accident. However, they plan to investigate this crash from all angles to identify the factors.
