Person Fatally Struck by Amtrak Train near Washington Street and Pacific Highway

 
MISSION HILLS, CA (July 26, 2021) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train at Washington Street, Sunday evening.
 
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened on July 18, at about 5:45 p.m. An Amtrak train hit the pedestrian on the tracks that run across West Washington Street near Pacific Highway.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Deputies continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the fatal accident. The Sheriff’s Department asks witnesses or anyone with information to call their non-emergency line at (858) 565-5200.
