Police Arrest DUI Hit-and-Run Suspect after Seriously Injuring Pedestrian on Shellmound Street in Emeryville
EMERYVILLE, CA (January 31, 20231) – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a DUI hit-and-run crash on Shellmound Street in Emeryville on Saturday afternoon.
Around 1:17 p.m. on January 28, the victim was walking in the 4400 block of Shellmound Street near IKEA store when a vehicle struck them.
The impact caused the pedestrian major injuries. Responding paramedics rushed them to a hospital in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old male driver from San Francisco fled the scene on foot after the crash. Police later found him a few blocks away and arrested him.
The suspect was taken into custody on felony DUI hit-and-run charges and gun possession.
The Emeryville Police Department is still investigating the crash. They asked witnesses to contact them at 510-596-3700.
