Osvaldo Flores Struck, Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver in South Los Angeles

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (August 13, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Broadway and 54th street in South Los Angeles on Wednesday evening.
 
55-year-old Osvaldo Flores died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. His city of residence was not known.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:55 p.m. on August 11 in the South Park neighborhood. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Flores crossed Broadway in a marked crosswalk, but walked against a “Do Not Walk” signal when the vehcile hit him.
 
“A light-colored `Wrecker Tow Truck’ that was traveling northbound on Broadway collided into the pedestrian. It dragged him 180 feet before he was dislodged,” an LAPD statement said. “The driver of the tow truck stopped briefly but fled the scene without rendering aid or identifying themselves.”
 
A standing reward of up to $50,000 is available from the city of Los Angeles for assistance in solving a fatal hit-and-run.
