Mariano Pulido Dies after Hit by Pickup Truck on 24th Street in National City

 
NATIONAL CITY, CA (July 13, 2022) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on 24th Street in National City on Tuesday morning, July 5.
 
87-year-old Mariano Pulido of National City died at the scene, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
 
The accident happened around 8:20 a.m. near Highland Avenue. According to the National City Police Department, a Dodge Ram pickup truck made a left turn onto 24th Street from Highland Avenue when it hit Pulido, who was in a crosswalk.
 
Investigators determined that the motorist failed to yield for Pulido while making a left turn from a northbound lane.
 
Paramedics tried to revive the victim before pronouncing him dead at the scene of the accident.
 
The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
 
Police believe the driver was not intoxicated at the time of the crash. Further investigation is underway.
