Woman in Her 30s Dies in Hemet Hit-and-Run Crash on Sanderson Avenue

 
HEMET, CA (April 18, 2021) – A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash on Sanderson Avenue in Hemet early Saturday morning, April 17.
 
The fatal incident happened around 3:15 a.m. near Fruitvale Avenue, according to the Hemet Police Department. A woman in her mid-to-late 30s was crossing or standing in the roadway when a brown or tan sedan, driven by an unidentified woman, struck her.
 
First responders found the woman lying in the roadway with major injuries. They rushed her to a hospital, where the victim later died.
 
Officers searched the area for the suspect vehicle but came up empty.
 
Police said about 30 minutes before the fatal crash, officers had responded to a call of a woman seen jumping out into traffic on Kirby Street, about one block east of where the crash happened. The caller reported almost striking the woman after she jumped or ran into the roadway.
 
Officers responded, but could not find the female. It is likely that female is the same person who was struck and killed in the traffic collision, police said.
 
Further investigation is underway.
