Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Monterey Street in San Martin

 
SAN MARTIN, CA (January 11, 2022) – A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash on Monterey Street in San Martin on Monday.
 
The fatal crash happened on January 10, just north of Masten Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian was walking on the east shoulder of Monterey Street when a car struck him. After hitting the victim, the driver left the scene without rendering aid.
 
A passing motorist immediately called 911. Paramedics arrived soon after and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
 
Authorities only identified the victim as a 39-year-old San Martin resident. They will release his name once family members are properly notified.
 
A side-view mirror from a 2016-19 Honda Civic was found at the scene. The CHP believed the mirror was broken off when the car hit the pedestrian.
