Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 101 in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (September 20, 2021) – A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 in San Jose Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on September 18, in the northbound lanes of the highway near Alum Rock Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was walking on the highway when a vehicle struck them. The driver then fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
First responders found the pedestrian lying in the roadway with fatal injuries and pronounced them dead at the scene.
 
The identity of the victim was not immediately available pending next of kin notification.
 
Crews blocked off the two right-hand lanes surrounding the site for several hours Saturday morning.
 
At this time, the hit-and-run suspect remains at large. The CHP is still investigating the incident.
