Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on 280 Freeway in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (February 27, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on 280 Freeway in San Jose, early Friday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 12:15 a.m. on February 25 just north of McLaughlin Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was walking in lanes of traffic when a vehicle traveling south on the freeway struck them.
 
After striking the pedestrian, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
 
The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Their identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor the crash.
 
The San Jose Police Department is still investigating the fatality.
