Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Driver Alexis Lopez after Fatally Striking Pedestrian in Garden Grove

 
GARDEN GROVE, CA (November 7, 2022) – A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash on Brookhurst Street in Garden Grove early Sunday morning, November 6.
 
According to the Garden Grove Police Department, the 53-year-old transient man was walking in the 12000 block of Brookhurst Street when a white 2020 Toyota Tacoma struck him around 1:55 a.m.
 
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
The driver, 26-year-old Alexis Lopez of Brea, fled the scene after the crash. However, an officer was in the area and was able to locate him.
 
Lopez allegedly showed signs of impairment. He was placed under arrest and booked into Orange County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, felony hit and run and felony vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
