Trolley Fatally Strikes Pedestrian on San Diego Metropolitan Transit Service’s Orange Line in Lemon Grove

 
LEMON GROVE, CA (December 13, 2021) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a trolley near Central Avenue and Lemon Grove Avenue, late Friday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:50 p.m. on December 10 on San Diego Metropolitan Transit Service’s Orange Line trolley tracks. Sheriff’s deputies did not provide details of how the crash occurred, but they confirmed that the pedestrian died as a result of the accident.
 
Due to the crash, the Orange Line, which connects El Cajon to downtown San Diego, could not operate through Lemon Grove. Instead trolleys were running between stations in El Cajon and La Mesa.
 
Just before 7:00 p.m., the full service resumed on one track only, but there were delays.
 
No other details about the crash were available. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.
