Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Vehicle During Police Chase on 71st Street in South Los Angeles

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (June 17, 2022) — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car during a police chase at 71st Street and Central Avenue on Thursday.
 
According to authorities, the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. For unclear reasons, Los Angeles police officers began pursuing a woman in a white Toyota Avalon, which lasted for only about a minute. Subsequently, an LAPD helicopter followed through with the pursuit, as the woman traveled at a high rate of speed.
 
Not long after, the woman struck a male pedestrian in a crosswalk, three parked cars and an electrical pole. The man, believed to be in his 20s, whom the woman dragged for several hundred feet, died at the scene.
 
Following the chase, police arrested the 42-year-old woman and brought her to a hospital for her injuries.
