Pedestrian Struck, Injured by Vehicle on Highway 101 in Fortuna

 
FORTUNA, CA (January 17, 2023) — A pedestrian was hit and injured by a car on Highway 101 near 12th Street.
 
According to reports, the accident happened around 11:15 p.m. Saturday. As a man was driving northbound on Highway 101 from the 12th Street on-ramp, his vehicle reportedly struck an individual dressed in black. The accident took place during rainy conditions, with only headlights to guide the driver’s way.
 
Despite attempts to avoid hitting the individual, the driver struck the pedestrian, sending him down an embankment.
 
Immediately after, the driver’s wife contacted 911 to seek help while a passerby went to locate the victim. Arriving paramedics performed CPR on the unconscious male who had no pulse.
 
At this time, reports did not specify the current condition of the pedestrian. Although, officers did perform a sobriety test on the driver who passed with flying colors.
