CHICO, CA (August 7, 2024) — A pedestrian was hit and injured by a car at 3rd Avenue and Mangrove Avenue.
 
According to Chico Police officers, the pedestrian accident happened around 3:00 p.m. Monday. For an unknown reason, a driver veered into the oncoming lane of traffic before hitting a pedestrian near the intersection. Subsequently, the car struck a traffic signal and stopped in front of a neighboring business.
 
Minutes later, emergency personnel responded and rushed the seriously injured pedestrian to a hospital where Chico Police said the victim remains in critical condition.
 
After the crash, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators who did not believe alcohol or drugs factored into the crash.
