Woman Fatally Struck in Train Crash on Figueroa Street

 
VENTURA, CA (October 29, 2021) — A woman died in a train accident on Figueroa Street in Ventura on Tuesday, October 26.
 
According to the Ventura Police Department, they received reports of the incident about 5:03 p.m. along the train tracks at Figueroa Street.
 
A spokeswoman for Amtrak stated that the woman was on the train tracks in the area. Then an Amtrak Train 777 that is part of the Pacific Surfliner route struck her. The train immediately stopped. Authorities from the Amtrak Police and Ventura Police Department responded to investigate.
 
The female victim sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. According to Cmdr. Matt Cain, the investigation led them to believe the victim was intentionally on the tracks.
 
There were no other people injured as a result of the incident.
 
Officials have not yet released any information about the victim’s age, name, or city of residence.
 
The incident delayed the train for 49 minutes due to the investigation, which is still ongoing.
