Paul Schwartzkoph Hurt, Eligio Hernandez Involved in Modesto Big Rig Crash

 
MODESTO, CA (March 16, 2022) — Paul Schwartzkoph suffered major injuries in a big rig accident on Highway 99 near Standiford Avenue on Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle accident happened around 10:45 a.m. For unknown reasons, 39-year-old Schwartzkoph allowed his 2006 BMW to strike the left side of a big rig, driven by 47-year-old Eligio Hernandez. Due to the impact, the BMW left the road and struck a tree.
 
Upon noticing the impact, Hernandez, of Newman, pulled over and found Schwartzkoph trapped in his vehicle with major injuries. Soon after, paramedics with the Modesto Fire Department responded to use hydraulic extrication tools to free him from the wreckage.
 
At this time, investigators have yet to determine the ultimate cause of the accident. However, any witnesses with information should reach out to the CHP.
