Paul Davis and Other Driver in Fiery Big Rig Crash on Highway 101 near Buellton

 
BUELLTON, CA (August 12, 2021) — A crash on Highway 101 near Buellton left a truck driver injured Friday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened south of Jonata Park Road at about 2:40 p.m. Initial reports indicated that a 2012 Kenworth flatbed was southbound on the highway when it rear-ended a 2014 Freightliner rig.
 
The force of the collision pushed the Kenworth off the west side of Highway 101 and then caught fire. Fortunately, first responders were able to pull out its driver before the semi went fully ablaze. The fire spread to a grassy area which is about 50 square feet but was swiftly put out by the Santa Barbara County fire crew.
 
The 63-year-old Port Hueneme man driving the Kenworth sustained serious injuries. He received treatment at Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Freightliner, 31-year-old Paul Michael Davis of Alta Loma, did not have any injuries.
