Patrick McDuffee II Detained in Deadly DUI Crash on San Luis Bay Drive at Apple Orchard Lane

 
AVILA BEACH, CA (August 10, 2021) — Patrick McDuffee II faces charges in Friday’s deadly DUI accident on San Luis Bay Drive at Apple Orchard Lane.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal head-on crash happened around 3:00 p.m. For DUI-related reasons, 31-year-old Patrick W. McDuffee II entered the opposing lane of traffic and crashed his Ford F-250 into a Mercedes van head-on.
 
As a result of the crash, the 72-year-old male driver of the Mercedes suffered fatal injuries. His name has been withheld pending the notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, paramedics brought his 65-year-old female passenger to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo for treatment.
 
Upon learning that intoxication drove the accident, officers arrested McDuffee on DUI and murder charges. If anyone has more information on this fatal accident, contact the CHP.
