Passenger Killed, Driver Arrested in DUI Crash on 5 Freeway [Stockton, CA]

Fatal DUI Accident on 5 Freeway near Country Club Boulevard

 
STOCKTON, CA (September 6, 2022) — One woman died and another woman was arrested following a DUI crash on 5 Freeway on Monday, September 5.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 4:30 a.m. at the Country Club Boulevard on-ramp to southbound 5 Freeway.
 
Officials stated the vehicle rolled down at about 40 feet down an embankment in the area. The force of the incident ejected the passenger from the vehicle. Then the vehicle struck the ejected passenger and subsequently landed on top of her.
 
Medics rushed the passenger to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel later died from her injuries. The driver didn’t appear to be hurt in the incident, the CHP said.
 
Authorities have not yet released both women’s names.
 
CHP said officials arrested the driver for driving under the influence. In addition, they also believe speeding also played a role in the fatal crash.
