Padres Pitcher Blake Snell Uninjured in DUI Crash on 5 Freeway near Highway 56

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 22, 2022) — Padres Pitcher Blake Snell escaped injury in a DUI accident on the 5 Freeway near Highway 56 on Thursday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle accident happened around 11:00 p.m. While traveling on the 5 Freeway, officers with the San Diego Police Department pulled over a gray Mercedes-Benz sedan for a traffic violation.
 
The driver, identified as Snell, reportedly pulled over to the right shoulder of the 5 North Freeway. However, moments later a gray Toyota sedan traveling north veered off the road and crashed into the left side of Snell’s Mercedes-Benz.
 
Fortunately, Snell escaped injury, but his passenger suffered minor injuries.
 
At this time, the uninjured driver of the Toyota – described as a 39-year-old man from Vista – faces DUI charges. No one else was injured in the crash.
