Teenager Oscar Barrios, 52-Year-Old Gilberto Gomez Victims of Fatal Palm Desert Car Accident
PALM DESERT, CA (September 14, 2021) – Oscar Juarez Barrios and Gilberto Gomez died in a two-vehicle accident early Sunday morning.
The accident happened around 4:33 a.m. on September 12, on Highway 111 at Fred Waring Drive. According to the Riverside County Fire Department, Barrios and Gomez were in different vehicles when the crash occurred.
Both died at the scene.
Barrios was a 17-year-old Mecca resident, while Gomez was 52 from Indio. It is unknown if they were the one driving the involved vehicles.
A third person suffered major injuries.
At this time, it is unclear if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating.
