Afternoon Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 99 in Shafter Leaves One with Major Injuries

 
SHAFTER, CA (May 17, 2024) – One person was severely injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 99 in Shafter Friday afternoon on May 10.
 
The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. near Lerdo Highway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a red sedan crashed into a center divider along the southbound highway and overturned. The impact caused a chain-reaction crash involving at least five vehicles.
 
First responders found one person suffering from major injuries. That person was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
 
At this time, CHP officials are still investigating the cause of the crash and factors involved.
