Big Rig Crashes into Jeep on 5 Freeway in Castaic Leaving 1 with Major Injuries

 
CASTAIC, CA (August 16, 2022) – One person was seriously injured in a big rig accident on 5 Freeway in Castaic late Saturday, August 13.
 
The accident happened around 11:40 p.m. near Templin Highway. According to the California Highway Patrol, the big rig slammed into a Jeep on the righthand shoulder of the southbound 5 Freeway.
 
As a result of the crash, one person suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported the patient to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in an unknown condition.
 
A SigAlert was issued for the fourth lane of the southbound 5 Freeway. All lanes were open as of 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
 
The exact cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
