4-Vehicle Crash on Highway 163 in Mission Valley Leaves 1 Driver with Major Injuries

 
MISSION VALLEY, CA (September 22, 2021) – One person suffered serious injuries after a four-vehicle accident on Highway 163 in Mission Valley Tuesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 9:00 a.m. on September 21, just north of 8 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, an SUV went into a spin, hit a roadside barrier and collided with a black Toyota sedan as it headed north on the freeway. Two other vehicles then got involved in the crash.
 
As a result, one of the drivers suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported the patient to a hospital in an unknown condition.
 
Crews closed the left two lanes of the roadway while they cleared the wreckage.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
